The issue of efficient soil removal fr om root crops remains the most important task in post - har vest processing. Traditional water methods consume a large amount of water, while the consumption per unit mass increases by 215 - 425%. On the other hand, dry cleaning methods often do not meet the required quality standards . The purpose of the study. The m ain focus is on the benefits that cooperation brings to small and medium - sized producers, including cost reduction, improved access to resources, knowledge sharing, and integration into digital platforms for selling pr oducts on international markets . Mater ials and methods: This study focuses on the dry cleaning process using digital mechanisms. The technologies operate at different rotation speeds (230/260 rpm). Scientific novelty: to optimize the design parameters, a theoretical analysis of the forces acti ng on root crops during the cleaning process was carried out. Results: the study determined the dependencies of angular displacement and speed, as well as the ratio of the friction coefficient to the contact angle (optimally 42°). A cleaning efficiency of 76% was achieved using 14 machines (length 2.7 m, operating time 36.6 s). Discussion and conclusion . The system eliminates the use of water while complying with zootechnical standards (<2.7% residue). The results confirm the development of new post - harvest equipment and offer a practical approach to agricultural engineering education. Keywords: root crops, cleaning, digital technology, machines, design p arameters, friction coefficient Acknowledgements. The author of the article thank the reviewers for thei r expert assessment. Introduction The quality of root crop cleaning is a key determinant of post - harvest market value. For instance, the price of unwashed potatoes is significantly lower than cleaned potatoes. In Russia, over 17,000 – 37,200 tons of water are wasted annually in potato cleaning processes. Additionally, traditional water - based methods lead to secondary pollution, requiring expensive treatment, while mechanical brush systems cause damage to 6 – 10% of produce. The analysis confirms the urgency of addressing inefficiencies in traditional root crop cleaning methods. The proposed roller system provides a practical and scalable solution to reduce water consumption and post - harvest losses while improving produce quality. Innovation: we propose a rol ler - based cleaning system (Fig. 1), featuring: ● Rubber - coated rollers (Shore A 60) ● Differential rotation speeds (230/260 rpm) ● Optimized spacing of 90 mm The roller - based system described below serves as a foundation for enhancing cleaning quality while reducing water consumption. This roller - bas ed cleaning system concept confirms the technical feasibility of transitioning from water - based methods to dry, mechanical alternatives. It lays a technological foundation for future modular upgrades and integration with smart systems. Literature Review. T he proposed system of a cooperative association of innovative farmers provides for a set of interrelated methods aimed at increasing their export potential. For a tuber modeled as a disk (R = 27 mm) on rollers (r = 20 mm): α=arcsin(2(R+r)a)=42 ∘ (1)α=arcsin(a2(R+r))=42 ∘ (1) The minimum friction coefficient is: μ=0.51(2) The theoretical model validates the design's parameters and offers predictive control over cleaning outcomes. The optimal friction coefficient and angular r elationships provide a scientific basis for future modifications and scaling. Fig. 1.
